7 Types of Videos We Can't Stop Watching

I find myself watching videos online more and more- and they all seem to be the same type.  My Youtube history is a mix of cute animals sleeping, piano covers, and tutorials for makeup looks I will never use.  What kinds of videos do you find yourself watching on repeat?

Cute animals

Videos of cute animals are one of the great things about the Internet, and probably the most addicting, time-sucking forms of entertainment too.  How can we get so much joy out of 30 seconds of a bunch of puppies slipping on the floor as they try to eat?  I could spend a whole day laughing at this video of a Corgi majestically jumping in the water.

Animals making human noises

Along with videos of cute animals, clips of animals making strange human-like noises are another crowd favorite.  This particular video is a husky expressing his affection for his owners is one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

Music videos and covers

There are so many talented musicians on Youtube, and now they all have a chance to share their music through a global video streaming platform.  This charming video of a man playing the ukulele reminds me how music brings people together.

Beauty videos- Makeup tutorials and Hauls

Even if you’re not interested in makeup or spending half your paycheck on one eyeshadow palette, there’s still something captivating about these beauty-themed videos.  Youtube makeup and fashion gurus like Zoella have millions of views (half of which are from me) on their step-by-step guides on the perfect smoky eye look, and, strangely enough, videos of what they’ve bought recently.  It’s like window shopping, but better!

Vines

People like Thomas Sanders are nothing short of amazing with their ability to condense hilarious material into 10 seconds.  Vines are addicting- you can watch them a million times and never tire of them.  One of my favorites is the “Narrating People’s Lives” segments that Thomas Sanders does, where he approaches random people and films their reactions.

Lip sync battles

This segment from Jimmy Fallon’s popular nighttime show is so popular that it now has its own TV show on Spike.  There’s nothing better than watching your favorite movie stars lip-synching to popular songs.  People like Anna Kendrick, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have taken part in the trend.

Crazy science experiments and Rube Goldberg Machines

Ok Go is known for their music videos that combine catchy pop tunes with an extremely over the top stunt like this huge Rube Goldberg machine.  Crazy science experiments and stunts like this receive 48 million views on Youtube.
